Breastfeeding

There are several locations around OHSU for individuals to breastfeed or pump milk for later use.

The Outpatient Pharmacy in Physician's Pavilion stocks a number of breastfeeding and pumping supplies, including tubing, valves, connectors, breast milk storage bags, and bottle sets. They are located on the first floor of the Physicians Pavilion Building on Marquam Hill and are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

OHSU Resources

Healthy Starts (ages 0 to pre-k): OHSU students are eligible for priority enrollment and discounted tuition at Health Start's Children's Center located at the South Waterfront. Visit the Health Starts Children's Center O2 page to learn more.

Planned Parenthood in Portland:

Planned Parenthood is a not-for-profit organization that provides sexual health services to people of all gender identities and sexual orientations. This includes STD testing and treatment, access to birth control and contraceptives, emergency contraceptives (the morning-after pill), abortion, pregnancy testing and services, general sexual health care, and HIV testing. Planned Parenthood accepts most health insurance, and offers their services to uninsured patients on a discounted scale. Many qualify for free or highly discounted care.

At Student Health and Wellness all of our primary care providers are skilled at providing general primary care, urgent care, and preventive care for our transgender and gender-diverse communities. Jodi DeMunter, M.D., offers treatment for patients interested in discussing a transition to hormone therapy or for the ongoing maintenance of hormone therapy. She works closely with other OHSU clinicians to provide additional resources and consultation when needed, including referrals for gender-affirming surgical care if/as desired. Queer Health Alliance student group 

  • Provide safe, validating and inclusive health care and working environments at OHSU through education and advocacy. 

OHSU Transgender Health Program

 Basic Rights Oregon (or call: 503-222-6151)

  • Provides resources explaining Oregon Health Plan (OHP) coverage for transgender health care and assists with reporting discrimination.

Cascade AIDS Project (or call: 503-223-5907)

  • The oldest and largest provider of HIV services in the Pacific Northwest. CAP provides services around health care, prevention, testing, housing, and employment for individuals affected by HIV. CAP also provides peer support for HIV-positive individuals who also require mental health services or linkage to care. 

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Portland LGBTQ (or call: 503-679-2999)

  • A drop-in, peer-led support group for LGBTQ persons living with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, or PTSD.

The Q Center (or call: 503-234-7837)

  • An LGBTQ community center with a variety of support and affinity groups and events. 

OHSU's Confidential Advocacy Program provides confidential services to OHSU employees, students, and volunteers who have experienced any form of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, intimate-partner violence, stalking, relationship/dating violence, and other forms - whether at OHSU or outside of the university.   • Call to Safety provides a comprehensive 24/7 crisis line, follow-up advocacy for survivors, support groups, community outreach and education, and sexual assault medical advocacy.
